Charting the Course

Today my mother and I set off for Ft. Walton. I had knitting in hand, so I was set, right?

Except I didn't have my chart. Quite the conundrum. Do you assume that you know it well enough to just keep going? A sleeve with three repeats done says you do. But is it worth the frogging if you mess it up?

In the end, I knit for a little ways, just as far as I was sure and then read. I'm rereading I Capture The Castle, because it's not summer if I don't.

In disability news, I'm having surgery Wednesday to do something about the excess skin on my ankles. Just the left this time, but the right at either Christmas or next summer. I am SO excited. This means high-tops and boots which I have not been able to wear since the lymph-node injuring accident of 2000. Then I was eleven and not interested in such paragons of fashion. I am scared, a tad, because I always am about surgery, but hopefully all will be well.

I think I may attempt Blog a Day in September. Not that I have, you know, scholarships to apply for or recruitment to deal with....

Nineteen Candles

Actually, at no point in the past week did I have a cake with nineteen candles, but I did have cake that my friend baked for me! It said "Happy Birthday, Chiclee!" which was really sweet. So all week I've been celebrating my birthday this week. It was on Thursday, and it was raining and gross but also a really awesome day. I've actually had a social life lately, so not so much knitting. This is what I have on the second sock (picture via my iSight!)=: bluepinksock And also pictures of the blue hair for those that requested them. It's kind of faded now but it won't be all the way out for my sorority composite pictures this week, but oh well.bluehair1bluehair Off to knit!!

Time

I'm not sure where it goes. Suddenly it's past the beginning of October and some balls have just started rolling. Our knitting club should get recognized by student government on Wednesday, and then we can start meeting and then take stock of people's abilities, things we'll be doing and so on.

I have an almost-FO, but it still needs to be blocked and the accessory I'm making to go with it needs to be done :D. But soon. Hopefully it'll all be done by Thursday, which, if the forecast doesn't lie to me, should be the first day that the high drops considerably (to 70, but still).

I made banana nut muffins today, and they were pretty darn good, I think :) The probably could have done with some brown sugar, but they were a recipe using Splenda, so I didn't want to up the calories with another sugar.

Tomorrow I meet with both the study-abroad coordinator and Financial aid to see about going back to London for a few week this summer :D

Oh, and my podcast listening is finally up to only those released in the past week. It's kind of a miracle.

More very soon!
